Mindset Series – Robert E Lee

It’s declared history is constructed from the victor — that as a direct consequence of conflict, the defeated will often be portrayed as a collective, detestable mass that follows an equally repulsive value system. Yet, though his Confederate Army what food was in the losing end of America’s Civil War, Robert E. Lee is remembered among the most celebrated generals in American history.

Rational ideas of armed conflict presume that defeated soldiers needs to be denounced, not exalted; punished, not praised; and despised, not admired. However, Lee is entirely with the latter. What made one man, one soldier, stand out that he’s remembered by more Americans today than many of his victorious Union counterparts?

Unfortunately, this is a question that many volumes of books also have trouble answering. And, I believe that you’ve no desire (through this moment, a minimum of) to see content of these depth and breadth (i admit which i couldn’t write it). Nonetheless, if I had to describe the reason for Lee’s appeal a single word, it will be “motivation.”

I am going to explore this theme negative credit the subsequent quote:

“There is scarcely something that is proper we cannot desire to accomplish by labor and perseverance. However the first must be earnest and also the second unremitting.”
Robert E. Lee

Earnest Labor

Today’s culture is one through which immediacy is glorified — through the Round-the-clock news cycle; to tarts that “pop” simply uses pour a glass of milk; to magic diet pills — so that it is easy to forget that anything worth accomplishing takes earnest labor, i would define as being a serious and purposeful exertion of body, mind and spirit.

When ever businesses mention pouring their blood, sweat and tears inside their companies, they refer simply to earnest labor.

When the craft of your famous musician or star athlete seems to look “easy,” it really is made so through earnest labor.

And, when I strive to achieve transpire of managing a marathon, I’ll invest in one principle: you got it right, earnest labor.

To be able to learn; the energy to switch; and the strategies by which goals are accomplished; are controlled through your capacity to give your very best, also to achieve this earnestly — without reservations (or perhaps a fast solution).

Unremitting Perseverance

Lee fought a constant battle for much of the Civil War. His outnumbered and poorly-supplied army shrank daily as a result of desertions by disheartened soldiers. Yet, in spite of this, he fought vigorously prior to the moment when defeat was imminent.

How many times should we stop trying goals when things aren’t proceeding exactly as there was anticipated? Have you choose to give up smoking, however discovered you possessed a massive project due at the office, school, or elsewhere? Do you try making a practice of getting out of bed earlier in the morning, however slept over the following day and decided it’s a pointless exercise?

Lee comes with an answer for these, as well as other, problems: unremitting perseverance, that i would define like a steady, unshakable persistence in staying with an alternative, belief, or purpose.

While i train for and in the end run the marathon, I understand there would have been a little voice around my head telling me to stop; who’s hurts too much to travel one step further. However, my unremitting perseverance in following your challenge — up to the tip line — will enable me to concentrate only to my footsteps up against the pavement; the gentle breeze passing over my ears; and the rhythm of my breathing — thus pushing that little voice in the depths of my subconscious.

Nevertheless, robert e lee biography; 4,460,000 is a great example that harboring unremitting perseverance doesn’t ensure victory. After all, he was defeated in war. Yet, even in momentary failure, perseverance will give you the electricity to obtain back on your own metaphorical (or actual) horse and ride into battle (hopefully metaphorical) once again, pursuing your goals using the knowledge that may basically be learned through setback.

It is said that history is presented by the victor; and, in Lee’s case, it is. In capturing the hearts of Americans, both through his military actions, his personal value system, and the sincere words of wisdom, Robert E. Lee is clearly victorious.
