Saturday’s “To Do” list commences with Check out Yard sales!
Planning my route the evening before, testing my gps on my cell phone and circling the garage sale listings from the paper really are a Friday night ritual.
The city I reside in is really a “Planned Community”. Which make it pre-planned and strategically presented. It’s split up into Sections every section is presented by a letter. The “P” section is made up of streets beginning with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the idea! From the P section, there are lots of retirees and young professionals. The W section is the rich and ritzy division of town Then a B section is older yet sadly, more run down. The R section is full of lovers with children. The S Section is south of town and thought of within the boondocks because the lots are larger and yes it feels more country. And finally, the C Section is how the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats and much more boaters live. Each section has its own characteristics and community. Though many of us are area of the larger town, these “sections” develop over town to get a particular ambience. The spot with plenty of children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. The “Country” part of town has no street lights and is also over beaten track through the remainder of town. But, the location as a whole has regulations and laws that individuals all try and abide.

We have been allowed Two yard sales a year. We are required to buy a $5 permit for each of these sales and our signage is grabbed and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It’s not a conducive atmosphere for the Garage Sale Business from your own home!
Some people have ignored every one of the rules, communicated with their neighbors about their needs and plans and in actual fact make a fairly good living putting on the garage sale event monthly! But when they get caught disobeying the policies, they feign innocence to the rules and promise to prevent repeat! But, a couple weeks later when everything has calmed back, there will suddenly be another garage sale! Most of the people locally could care less and life goes on!
About the Wednesday prior to Friday/Saturday Yard sale rush, a listing of all sales happens within our local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, starting time and date of sale as well as a number of “hook” goods that will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour on the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave for the sales until around 11am since the majority of these sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, as soon as I purchase for the sale, individuals are ready to sell off the last of their stuff for virtually every price you offer them. Ever since i am NEVER searching for anything in particular… just real deals, I have already been capable to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to sew clothes for a under developed nation! And that i bought it approximately $5!!! I’ve got a weekly budget around $20 for garage sales simply a few times have I ever reviewed that amount!!!
So, because of this weekend, I am plotting out about 10 sales inside a 10 mile variety of my home. I will leave at 11 am and turn into back by 3pm and i also know….A corner seat of the car is going to be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
