Taming the market through robots

Were closely watching the Crypto Currency Market if you’re able to call it that, with all the fake data, fraud, and related problems. One thing sticks out – it isn’t so diverse from FX, commodities, futures, or stocks. Market dynamics are market dynamics. And since many readers of the fine site will may have learned – the majority of traders lose. There’s been analysis done on this, we all know how this ends. A few early investors create a bundle and thousands or millions even remain holding the bag. From one perspective, a bubble is similar to a ponzi scheme. In MLM, there are a few who break the bank – the founders.

If you’re not the founder – how do you know which Crypto will be the next Bitcoin? You don’t. You have no clue. You can visit Korea and do all of the required research you want, the fact is that it’s impossible to see the future as well as a top analyst could be wrong sometimes.

Quant traders have the same doctrine they all share – they’re smart enough to learn how stupid these are. They know their particular flaws and they also endure a higher power- that is Artificial Intelligence.

Computing power is now so massive that it must be possible that you can now from their own home office create a sensible trading system that does well. Needless to say, as with the laws of market dynamics, you can even produce a robot which can be worth exactly zero – a big pile of crap. When a quant bakes an algorithm it’s either priceless or worthless. If it works, she has effectively made a profitable machine. If it won’t work, there is absolutely no value to anyone not even academics.

How do we understand what method works, developing a practical bot or purchase one? There are obvious conflicts of interest in those that sell bots. The internet continues to be covered with good marketeers, while profitable quants mostly keep their methods to themselves. Selling an item, and trading a robot, are really 2 different skills.

Crypto thus far has proven exactly like most markets: impossible to trade.

Even though many are kicking themselves because of not buying and holding, Let me tell you like a trader and that i speak for several space there’s absolutely no way I’d personally have had the patience to take a seat on a hugely profitable position for 3 years while the price goes parabolic.

That’s why quants develop and trade algorithms – picking entries and exits may be brain-destroying. There are dangers and risks with robots too of course, but you are of a different nature.
