How weddings have changed on the decades! Coming from a handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight wedding party members; a simple wedding car to expensive and huge wedding cars; three course meals to 6 course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about aforementioned, wedding speeches are still a fundamental part of a married relationship and guests do look forward to hearing them, referring to them before, during and indeed after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered ahead of the meal, throughout the meal and after the meal, however it is of your strong opinion that this wedding speeches should be delivered following the meal. I know that for most wedding party speakers i.e. Father in the Bride Speech, Father with the father of the groom speech (the 5 main speakers), they would would rather hold the wedding speeches prior to the meal, so they can enjoy their meal (some of them are paying for it!). However, it’s all about the invited guests and how many (and even the wedding venue staff) would choose wedding ceremony speeches being delivered following your meal for most reasons, a few of which include:
The invited guests are already fed and watered and aren’t paying attention to wedding speeches before eating anything (at least of food, which will be prior to meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival in the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served on the agreed time (introduce wedding ceremony speeches ahead of the meal as well as their is actually a delay of 15 minutes to a single.5 hours, driving the kitchen staff crazy trying to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
The wedding speeches behave as the transition from the meal towards the dancing (without a penny happening following your meal, people are expecting ‘a few words’ to be shared in regards to the Bride & Groom and they understand they could stand up, move about, have a break, take a stroll, go to the bar…)
It’s a challenge for parents from the Bride & Groom to speak in public, the majority of them would not be used of computer. So, they may, should they so wished, speak prior to the / their meal.
There should still be some type of formal wedding speech(es) after the meal…
