One among my favourites that I’ve been using for some time now is argan oil.

Sometimes termed as ‘liquid gold’, this is a natural product, taken from the kernels with the argan tree which can be indigenous to Morocco. It is usually utilized as a moisturiser plus in products to care for flowing hair. The reason is , the truth that the oil features a high nutrient content and is full of efas, anti-oxidants and vitamin e antioxidant that is vital for healthy hair and skin. Additionally it is renowned for making hair soft, silky and shiny and also to produce curly hair more manageable. Personally i have tried best oils for dry skin to help treat dermititis on my joints and yes it worked very well to me and left my skin beautifully smooth and soft without irritation.

Due to it’s benefits, celebrities including Jennifer aniston, Charlize Theron, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Taylor Swift are typical users of argan oil to assist maintain their hair and skin. It’s even beginning to come in mascara formulas as it’s claimed it may help to create your lashes longer and much more lustrous. My locks are very dry and it has a wiry texture (it almost is like fine fishing line) as well as the oil in it’s pure form really helps to add moisture and softness to my hair. If you live fortunate enough to have naturally soft hair, argan oil is a fairly crowning glory to provide extra gloss and shine.

Although finding shampoos, conditioners, hairstyling products and skincare products containing argan oil is straightforward, because of the oil’s rarity they are presented with a relatively high price. As I previously mentioned, the oil is obtained from the argan tree which can be seen in southern Morocco. The traditional way of extracting the oil would have been to collect argan fruit, dry it, extract the nuts, crack them to reveal the kernels and then to crush these to release their oil. The task ended by hand and took fifteen hours of labour and thirty two kilograms of fruit to make just one single litre of oil! Currently the kernels are mechanically cold pressed (heat damages the oil’s chemical properties). The tree is rare, extracting the oil is labour intensive… which means the high price. However, the good thing is a bit oil goes further.

The scarcity of the argan tree is where the problem lies. There are so many products out there now that incorporate argan oil or are marketed as ‘argan oil’ or ‘Moroccan oil’. Though if you examine the label, there are often other ingredients (like silicon) in larger quantities than the actual argan oil. Cosmetic companies must work hard in order that the provision of argan oil is sustainable as well as an exceptional, untainted by other oils or substances.

How do we know you get bona fide? Should you be investing in a product containing argan oil – confirm the ingredients. Look out for ‘argania spinosa kernel oil’, it should be up high the components list and ideally, the merchandise should contain as few ingredients as you can. Greater things that the oil is combined with, the less effective the oil is going to be. If you’re buying pure argan oil, makes it inside a dark coloured bottle because the light passing via a clear bottle can stop working the oil’s chemical properties. Some goods that are marketed as argan oil also include a carrier oil such as olive or sunflower oil. Be also mindful of the value you are paying. Argan oil does not have to cost a bomb but simultaneously, it is just a rare oil which is labour intensive to make so isn’t usually sold at a ‘giveaway’ price. The very best argan oil product isn’t necessarily the most expensive fresh fruits the word, ‘you get what you pay for’.
