Keeping up with the expression “it is what it is”? Exactly what does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper concise explaination this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru within the lotus position floating across the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that might take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Seeing as how this can be my last life in the world along with the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting the Course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
Is there a IT that we’re currently talking about here? In accordance with the Course in Miracles, IT is truth, specifically God’s truth. Why is it crucial that you emphasize it’s God’s truth? Because God’s the fact is not open to interpretations whereas a human’s simple truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have lead to a numerous religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as a “system of thought, feeling, and action that’s shared by the group and that gives the members a physical object of devotion.”
Who devised the system of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? In line with the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal would be to go back to a perfect condition of being. There is no thought or action inside the state of being, you simply are. What mustn’t be forgotten is the underlying thread of all religions: God is creator, God is love and we are all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put another way, “it ‘s what it is” might be rewritten to “God’s love could be the only truth and it’s also absolute” and also this truth knows no bounds which is timeless.
